Tactix was approached by Vestas in July 2021 to assist them with the development of their proposed Campoona Wind Farm on Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.

Our brief

Tactix was approached by Vestas in July 2021 to assist them with the development of their proposed Campoona Wind Farm on Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. The development had been earmarked to comprise of 250 turbines. Vestas were seeking to secure Access Licences for exclusive access to land incorporating 46 landowners, with a target to secure these Licences over the following 12 months.

Our Approach

  • Undertake property searches to identify all landowners and interest holders within the required development area.
  • Establish a landholder project database
  • Develop a land access & engagement strategy
  • Landholder introductions and negotiations
  • Liaison with regulatory and government departments to facilitate approvals for Public Land access and Native Title interest extinguishment
  • Secure initial Access Licence agreements for project studies
  • Negotiate options to lease, enabling tenure for development
  • Engage Tactix Personnel to undertake the above functions:
    • Program Delivery Manager and Strategic Advisor
    • Project Support Officer
    • Land Access Consultants
    • Crown Land Technical Advisor

Outcomes

By implementing our approach, Tactix have been able to successfully secure Access Licences over 80% of the required land within 6 months. The 37 initial executed Licences will enable the development target of 250 turbines.

The successful outcome resulted in a project expansion doubling the initial capacity forecast, with a view to now developing a wind farm consisting of 500 turbines, producing in the order of 6MW per turbine.

Tactix have since been engaged to undertake further scoping studies with a view to securing land for future wind farm developments in the state.
